Passionate about your cycling?

Smart Heath is proud to offer our ‘Bike Bio, Bike Fit and Bike Phys’ cycling service.

If you love your cycling as much as we do here at Smart Health then this service is for you. Our experienced team is here to analyse your cycling biomechanics and combine this information with your individual results obtained from our clinical assessment. This information, along with your cycling history, injury history, as well as your future goals allows us to provide you with a bike fit that is perfect for you and completely unique. Once you have adapted to your ideal cycling position you will then be invited to take advantage of our exercise physiology testing and have a specific training program designed for you. Alternatively, you may choose to take advantage of our ‘Bike Phys’ as a standalone service.

Your assessor has a Masters in Physiotherapy, a Bachelor of Applied Science and an Honours Degree in Exercise and Sports Science. This unique background provides an extensive knowledge in biomechanics, neuromusculoskeletal physiology, pathophysiology and pathology. This places your assessor in the perfect position to fit you to your bike in a way that will allow you to get the most out of your cycling performance, whilst decreasing the likelihood of injury.

Bike Bio

  • Biomechanical analysis on your bike
  • Clinical physiotherapy assessment
  • Left versus right lower limb power analysis

The ‘Bike Bio’ is a full body, biomechanical assessment designed to provide you with the necessary information to optimally fit you to your bike. Within this assessment we will discuss past and present injuries, your cycling history as well as your current cycling goals. You will undergo thorough clinical testing as well as a functional biomechanical assessment on your bike.

The information we obtain from the ‘Bike Bio’ is fundamental in establishing your optimal bike fit. It is this information that makes each fitting process unique to the individual. We will outline the results of this information and plan the bike the fitting process for you.

The ‘Bike Bio’ will take approximately 1.5 hours and will be conducted by a Physiotherapist. The cost of the ‘Bike Bio’ is $200 and you are entitled to a medical benefits rebate on this component of the service.

Bike Fit

  • Shoe and cleat fit
  • Handlebar and saddle assessment
  • Functional cycling position determined
  • Recommendations of your optimal cycling position provided

At Smart Health we use the very best in technology for your ‘Bike Fit’. We tailor the fit to your biomechanical abilities and limitations, as well as your goals to ensure you get the most out of your cycling.

Once your cycling biomechanical analysis has taken place, your current fit dimensions will be recorded. Your assessor will then perform your optimal ‘Bike Fit’ including a post-fit biomechanical analysis to ensure you are cycling in an ideal position.

Within the fitting process all appropriate changes will be made to your bike to give you your optimal ‘Bike Fit’. However, please be aware that we do not stock a variety of equipment for you to purchase. Thereby if your ‘Bike Fit’ requires a change in equipment we will provide you with all the necessary recommendations to achieve your ideal position.

The ‘Bike Fit’ will be performed after your ‘Bike Bio’ and will take approximately 1.5 hours.  This will also be conducted by a Physiotherapist. The cost of the ‘Bike Fit’ is $200.
