David is a passionate physiotherapist, accredited strength coach and elite athlete with particular interest in rehabilitation and corrective exercise, as well as strength, conditioning and performance coaching.
As an elite mountain bike racer, David has won multiple state championships in downhill and gravity enduro disciplines, also competing successfully at both national and international levels. It was this passion and commitment to health, exercise and performance that motivated him to undertake a Bachelor of Applied Science degree specialising in Exercise Science, which he completed in 2011.
David has since been employed by the University of South Australia; from 2012-16 working as a gym instructor coaching clients and athletes, and supervising Human Movement students in their practical course work. Since 2014 David has also been working as a lecturer and tutor at UniSA, teaching course material in Physical Rehabilitation, Exercise Prescription and Functional Anatomy.
David completed his Master of Physiotherapy degree in 2013, his goal being to benefit his clients from injury through to optimal function and performance.
In 2018, David completed an Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) Level 1 coaching accreditation. He currently provides strength, conditioning and performance coaching to national and international level mountain bike athletes.
As a musculoskeletal physiotherapist at Smart Health, he delivers a unique blend of manual treatment techniques, education, and exercise delivery to manage the individual needs of his clients. Additionally he is part of our cycling service team.
