Project Description

Ramona is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has been working in the field of Musculoskeletal Medicine since 2002. She is passionate about providing a comprehensive approach to managing musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction, aiming to understand and treat the cause of a patient’s symptoms. Combined with a thorough assessment, she treats musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction using a number of regenerative injection therapies including dextrose prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP), trigger point injections, perineural injection treatment and peripheral nerve hydrodissection. These are non-surgical treatment options that aim to treat the cause of your symptoms to help manage your pain and improve your function, returning you to the activities that you enjoy.

She has also undergone additional training in ultrasound imaging to assist diagnosis and injection guidance. Conditions treated include osteoarthritis (e.g. knee, hip, ankle), bursitis, tennis elbow, back pain, neck pain, tendinopathies, lateral hip pain and many more. Ramona has a special interest in the management of sacroiliac joint dysfunction and hypermobility disorders.

Ramona trained in Adelaide with A/Prof Norm Broadhurst and Dr Margaret Taylor. In 2004, she completed dextrose prolotherapy training as well as the Graduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine at Flinders University. She regularly attends local and international workshops, conferences and training to keep her skills up to date and learn about the latest musculoskeletal treatments and techniques.

She is the current President of the Australian Association of Musculoskeletal Medicine (AAMM) and convenor and tutor for the Adelaide node of the AAMM certificate course and injection therapies workshops for doctors. She was convenor of the AAMM annual conference in Adelaide in 2017 and past treasurer for the association. She is also a tutor for Lyftogt Perineural Injection Treatment workshops.

After working collaboratively with Smart Health since 2007, Ramona officially joined the team in 2018. She enjoys collaborating with allied health practitioners to help achieve the best outcome for her patients.

Please note that Dr Ramona is currently not taking any new patients.
